The Sierra Nevada Brewing Company selected Tindall as part of the Design/Build team for the construction of a new brewery in Mills River, NC. The project consisted of eight precast structures and over 1,000 individual precast concrete components.
Owner: Sierra Nevada Brewing Company
Architect/Engineer: Russell, Galloway Associates Inc.
Contractor: Modern Building Company
To determine which precast framing and precast veneer solutions were best for the project, Tindall worked closely with the project’s architects, engineers, and contractors to evaluate budget constraints, technical limitations, and jobsite logistics.
Despite record rainfall and harsh winter conditions, Tindall completed the design-build project ahead of schedule. As a result, Sierra Nevada was able to move into their facilities sooner than expected and begin production, saving the company time and money.
Tindall incorporated a number of architectural elements into the Sierra Nevada brewery project, including insulated wall panels with custom, integrally-colored concrete mix and exposed aggregate sandblast finishes. The front façade of the brew house utilized radiused panels and gabled end panels with large window openings. The project’s precast bridges utilized arched, radiused panels with an architectural finish that matched the buildings. To provide interesting finish details to two of the structures’ more utilitarian areas, Tindall produced mezzanine framing with fluted forming at the floor slabs.
To meet the cold storage requirements, the precast structures included insulated precast concrete wall panels. Tindall also provided clear spans of over 90 feet utilizing Tindall’s bulb tees. Other precast concrete components included double tees, beams, columns, floor slabs, insulated floor slabs, and spandrel panels.
