A LabCorp location in Birmingham, Alabama needed a new parking deck for their medical office building. The goal was to create a parking structure that complimented the surrounding historic buildings in downtown Birmingham and included features that added to the general characteristics of a parking garage.
To achieve this goal, Tindall provided a precast parking deck with vertical wall panel panels that included punched window openings in lieu of the column/spandrel look found in most parking decks. Exterior details include architectural buff-colored concrete with a sandblast finish and inset thin brick. This allowed Tindall to solve the client’s need for a covered parking structure for it's operations while also enhancing the appearance of the architectural features of the exterior.
During construction of the office complex, the client was able to utilize the parking deck in time to support the operational needs for displaced parking as well as additional construction parking for the adjacent structure. Erection of the parking garage began in July 2015 and was completed in August 2015.
