Holy Cross Hospital Campus in Germantown, Maryland required additional parking space for staff and patients of an existing Medical Office Building. One of the many planning and programming for the new parking deck required that the new structure compliment the architecture of the existing Medical Office Building. Tindall was invited to participate as part of the design/build team led by Holy Cross Health and develop solutions to the project requirements.
Owner: Holy Cross Health
Architect: Hord Coplan Macht, Inc.
Engineer: DESMAN Associates
Developer: NexCore Group
General Contractor: Whiting-Turner
Tindall’s Virginia division began erection in spring of 2014 and completed installation of the structure and exterior architectural precast for the 170,000 square-foot parking garage in less than eight weeks.
Tindall's solution for the parking deck included precast exterior wall panels with a factory applied stained, form-liner finish utilizing an architectural pigmented concrete mix. Applying the stain to select individual bricks in the form liner allowed Tindall to create the contrasting pattern that matched the existing office building. To match other architectural features of the existing MOB, field applied stone was incorporated on portions of the exterior wall panels.
Using the stained form liner, Tindall was able to match the look of the Medical Office Building at a reasonable cost, solving a significant project requirement for Holy Cross Health.
