The University of Texas set out to create a state-of-the-art residence hall designed to provide students with a modern, comfortable living experience in the heart of Austin. With speed, durability, and aesthetics all top of mind, this project presented the perfect opportunity to leverage Tindall’s innovative T-SLAB® floor system as part of a total precast solution. By using T-SLAB for every floor, the Whitis Residence Hall became one of the most significant total precast dormitory projects in the region, showcasing what’s possible when efficiency meets innovation.

To bring this 215,000-square-foot residence hall to life, Tindall manufactured and delivered a complete precast structural system, including load-bearing insulated wall panels with thin brick and architectural concrete finishes, stair and elevator towers, and the T-SLAB floor system. These panels featured an acid wash finish for a clean, modern aesthetic, while the interiors were completed with a smooth steel trowel finish ready for paint.
By choosing a total precast approach, the project team dramatically accelerated the construction schedule. Erection began in May 2025 and was completed in just over 14 weeks, ensuring the facility stayed on track for its scheduled opening in May 2026.
