There are those out there that say, “New isn’t always better.” But at Tindall, we believe that it’s only through constant innovation that we’re able to tackle the most uncommon and complex challenges. This commitment to improving our processes and products through creative solutions, hard work, and the early adoption of new technologies recently led to our acquisition of a Miller PerformArc 750S Robot Welding Machine in our Virginia Division, and a new CNC router at our Georgia Division.

The PerformArc 750S is three times more productive than manual welding, and its turntable design allows the operator to continue working in tandem with the robot. This machine is capable of welding bearing plates, chord connectors, foundation connections, and flange connectors. The CNC router, capable of cutting plywood, Styrofoam, and high-density plastic, was originally purchased for use with stair applications. Today, the team utilizes the machine for both normal and special form work.

The only way to create exceptional work is by having the right tools for the job.

Cast-in-place has met its match. Tindall Precast Podiums are revolutionizing multifamily construction. The benefits of Tindall Podiums provide a far superior construction process. Precast components are simple and fast to install, removing weeks, perhaps even months, from construction schedules.

Save time. Save money. Save a date to learn all about it. We’ll be happy to schedule a lunch and learn discussion.

At Tindall, we like self-starters — those with enthusiasm, integrity, and the drive to make things happen. And few people embody those qualities like Tim Gainey. A member of the Tindall team for more than 20 years, Tim has been conquering challenges and exceeding expectations at every turn — no matter what role he’s playing. Today, he is more than just a consultant. Tim is an industry expert that delivers on his promises and ensures success by being involved in every aspect of a project, from start to finish. But, how did he get here?

In 1997, Tim began his career at Tindall’s Virginia Division as a member of the loading crew, and in less than two years, he had risen to help develop, implement, and maintain a precast storage system that is still being used to this day. Over the next twenty years, Tim met challenge after challenge head on, eventually becoming a Senior Project Manager, where he was responsible for oversight of all aspects of projects from North Carolina to Pennsylvania.

Now, Tim is preparing to take on his next adventure as the Business Development Manager for Commercial Applications. Currently focusing on the data center initiative, Tim will oversee new business development for all commercial applications and total precast opportunities in his new role, including office buildings, podium, mixed use, and education. Time and time again, Tim takes on new roles, more complex challenges, and greater responsibilities. So, if his exceptional track record is any indication, he’ll continue to excel and grow in this new position — no question about it.

After more than 50 years of developing innovative, time-saving precast solutions, Tindall turned its attention to stair and elevator towers. The result? A modular, self-supported tower system consisting of four-sided monolithic stacking units. These towers benefit from all of the typical precast advantages, like inherent fire resistance, enhanced structural soundness, and consistent quality. But, one advantage towers above the rest: unrivaled speed.

Tindall’s turnkey solution to stair and elevator towers can be erected in a matter of days, requiring only one crane and a small crew. When compared to the large crews, scaffolding, safety concerns, skilled trades, and scheduling issues of other construction methods, the advantages of Tindall’s precast design are clear.

Tindall’s broad range of category experience continues to expand into new markets, including heavy civil and petrochemical. Some of these new markets have grown and developed through work we’ve been involved in for years, such as the expansion of our heavy civil category through our background in utilities construction.

Our diversified growth has been driven by the support of our customers, who, like us, see the constant expanding possibilities of precast construction and rely on our team for new solutions and innovations. With thousands of projects completed, our track record in a wide range of industries has resulted in countless precast solutions.

We look forward to working with you on new ideas and designs.

This holiday season, the South Carolina Division of Tindall Corporation continued their tradition of donating gifts to the Hope Center for Children. The Spartanburg, SC based shelter helps to build stable, healthy families and provides children with a safe place from abuse and neglect.

The Hope Center serves over 3,000 children each year and is the only emergency shelter in Spartanburg. This year, Tindall “adopted” children and collected items from their wish lists. They provided gifts for 20 children, as well as, grocery store gift cards for parents.

Tindall friends and team members, Clancy Self, Vicki Force, and Cheryl Lang, are board members for the shelter. Force and Lang also hosted a holiday open house for the Hope Center and the Tindall team again supported the organization with donations of gift cards and wrapping paper. The opportunity to give back to the children in the community has been a highlight of the holiday season for Tindall. They look forward to continuing this support in the future.

Tindall Corporation, a national leader in precast, prestressed concrete structures, announces the internal transitions of its President and COO, Greg Force to President and CEO and its Vice Chairman, William Lowndes, IV, to Chairman of the Board. This change comes as the previous Chairman and CEO of Tindall, William Lowndes, III, steps down to focus on special projects within the organization.

Lowndes, III, spent the last 54 years leading Tindall Corporation from a six-person company to over 1,300 employees, spanning from Virginia to Texas. He has led with a strong vision and a true commitment to the employees who serve Tindall and to the communities in which it does business.

“I have full confidence that Greg and Willy will continue to lead Tindall towards a long and successful future,” said William Lowndes, III, of this transition. “Besides enjoying strong leadership, our company is pillared by the people who work hard each day to serve this organization.”

Force has served as the President and COO of Tindall since 2004 after joining the company in 1988. He received his B.S. in Civil Engineering from Lehigh University and his MBA from Georgia College and State University. In 2012, he served as Chairman of the Board for the Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute (PCI) and was named a Titan of the Industry in 2014. He is a registered Professional Engineer in ten states and a Fellow of both PCI and the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE).

Lowndes, IV, has worked at his family’s business since 1977, having served in numerous leadership roles including COO. With respect to his new role, Lowndes stated, “I am proud to continue my father’s work of leading the Board of this company that thrives on innovation and is made up of so many capable and dedicated people.” He is a graduate of the Georgia Institute of Technology with a B.S. in Civil Engineering.

Tindall Corporation donated $26,764.50 to benefit the Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute (PCI) Foundation by participating in the Third Annual Great PCI Foundation BBQ Competition. At this national fundraising event, precast fabricators and suppliers team up to sponsor employee lunch or dinner barbeques.

Tindall hosted a series of fundraising barbeques at several of their manufacturing facilities during the months of September and October. Employees, family, friends, and students were invited to attend. Each participant was encouraged to make a suggested donation of $5 or more to PCI Foundation. Competitors are ranked by employee participation, most meat grilled, best event photo, most unique menu item, and other creative fundraising efforts. Tindall’s Mississippi Division was one of eight finalists to qualify for the grand prize, an industrial stainless-steel grill valued at $2,500.

“This has been Tindall’s most successful PCI Foundation fundraising effort to date,” says Greg Force, President and COO of Tindall Corporation and Trustee of PCI Foundation. “We enjoyed some friendly competition between our divisions and employees at all levels were excited to get involved.”

The PCI Foundation is funded solely through contributions made to the PCIF. As a nonprofit, academic and scientific association, the Foundation is dedicated to providing educational opportunities by partnering with architecture, engineering, and construction management programs at universities across the country. They hope to influence the construction industry of tomorrow by educating future designers and specifiers of building products about the many benefits of precast. Thanks to fundraisers like this, the organization can offer grants for student courses, research programs, and testing for cutting-edge precast technology.

Though this organization is closely related to The Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute (PCI), it is governed by a separate Board of Trustees and maintains independent financial resources due to their separate goals. PCI provides limited funding and staff support to the Foundation, but does not determine how that funding is utilized.

Tindall Corporation takes pride in furthering the education of the next generation of design and construction professionals and is delighted to contribute to an organization that executes these efforts so effectively.

Tindall Corporation teamed up with Camperdown Academy in preparation for the solar eclipse that occurred on Monday, August 21st. Tindall provided new telescopes and eclipse glasses for all students so that they could have the best possible view of the celestial show.

Camperdown’s students have language-based learning differences, so its science lessons are all about exploring and experimenting with hands-on projects. Tindall provided critical tools which help the children understand, appreciate, and engage in the entire eclipse experience. Students graphed the temperature changes, studied the changing shadows, used different sized balls to learn how the Sun, Earth, and Moon interact, gazed through special solar telescopes, and created solar system models.

Tindall has a personal connection with the academy as children of its employees have attended the school. Christie Force, Accounts Receivable Clerk, and Carl Clary, Technical Sales, attended the eclipse viewing with the students, families and faculty of Camperdown to show their support for the school on behalf of Tindall.

“Why wouldn’t you combine a once-in-a-lifetime event with the first day of school? It’s such a great opportunity to make a science lesson come to life,” said Mr. Jeremy Bullinger, Science Teacher at Camperdown Academy. “The support from Tindall allowed us to purchase solar telescopes, interactive planet models, and those all-important safety glasses.”

The telescopes are gifts to the school that will be used in Camperdown’s science program. Camperdown holds a special place in the hearts of everyone at Tindall, and the eclipse viewing was an opportunity to lend a helping hand to a deserving group of people and enhance the education of these students.

“Camperdown Academy is an outstanding institution that is dear to us here at Tindall,” said Greg Force, President and COO of Tindall Corporation. “We hope that the tools we provided will benefit the academy for years to come.”

Camperdown Academy is a private, non-profit school serving children in grades one through eight who have dyslexia. With a 1:3 teacher/student ratio, learning is individualized and students are taught using a multi-sensory approach to instruction known as the Orton-Gillingham Approach. Camperdown Academy is a member of the International Dyslexia Association (IDA) and supports ongoing education and training for professionals and parents throughout Upstate South Carolina.
