“We knew from the start that T-SLAB® would be perfect for this addition.
It checked all the right boxes. Between budgetary constraints and a compressed timeline, T-SLAB® was the obvious solution — and it paid off.”
When Greenville County Schools decided to add athletic weight rooms to nine of their high schools, they understood constructing buildings on small footprints between existing structures with limited access wouldn’t be easy. Plus, they needed to match all the existing exterior finishes while completing the projects on time and within budget before the start of the following school year. Leveraging a total precast design, our in-house engineering team took things to the next level by using the Tindall, Superior, Lightweight, All-Purpose, Beam, T-SLAB®, in the beam’s first total precast project.

Tindall developed a total precast weight room with an amenities area for Travelers Rest High School, the first of the nine projects planned in association with Greenville County Schools, W.M. Jordan, and Goodwyn Mills Cawood (GMC). The efficient 4,686-square-foot structure used T-SLAB as the roof decking supported by load bearing, insulated precast wall panels that eliminated the redundancy of framing necessary for conventional building. The insulated barrier wall panels were cast with a thin brick finish to match the existing building allowing the new construction to easily blend into the campus. Being the first project, it took a little longer than the remaining eight buildings, but using just a single crane, small lift, and a 4-person crew, the entire structure was erected, caulked, and grouted in 13-days. Supplying quick access by the other trades to easily complete the project.
