The winner of the 2016 Build Knoxville Award in the category of commercial projects over $5 million, the Walnut Street Parking Deck is a testament to Tindall’s ability to execute any challenging plan on time and on budget. The incredible 312,785 square feet of elevated floors feature 1,100 parking spaces, two levels of entry and exit, unmanned access control, and dual-purpose lanes. With the construction being 10 stories tall, energy usage was a concern. To combat this, the deck was outfitted with four high-performance elevators, which offer low power consumption and require no machine rooms, and internal lights that utilize occupancy sensors.

For a project of this size, no detail can be overlooked — from durability to aesthetics, and everything in between. The foundations consist of approximately 40 caissons extending up to 70 feet in depth and five feet in diameter, and the garage features over 900 pieces of precast. The exterior of the deck is made of precast wall panels comprised of sandblasted architectural concrete with brick inlay finishes. Outside lighting is designed to eliminate spillover into adjacent properties and provide unique aesthetic accents.
