For the last 25 years, and especially over the last decade, the Upstate of South Carolina has been experiencing a tremendous boom in both population and economic growth. In 2017, the city of Greenville was named the fourth-fastest-growing city in the nation by the U.S. Census Bureau, and the charming streets of this city aren’t the only ones experiencing the change. In fact, the entire Greenville-Spartanburg-Anderson metropolitan statistical area experienced an impressive 8.7 percent population growth between 2010 and 2017. That means that the population in the Upstate is expected to reach nearly 1.75 million — a 64 percent increase since 1990 — by 2040, according to Greenville News. The numbers are all there — South Carolina is growing, and it’s growing quickly. This incredible expansion is due in no small part to the swell in commercial, manufacturing, and industrial jobs in the area. With major international corporations operating here, like BMW, Michelin, Toray, and many more, the population continues to rise in tandem with the availability of work. Tindall is immensely proud of the Upstate’s growth, and the Utility Division at Tindall’s South Carolina location has played a vital role in local development by building the infrastructure needed to support the upsurge in business and population. Over the last few years, Tindall’s Utility Division has completed hundreds of utility projects with thousands of structures for virtually every major business development across the Upstate — including Michelin, BMW, Kobelco, Toray, and the SC Inland Port in the Greenville/Spartanburg area; Colgate Palmolive and Teijen in the Greenwood and Saluda areas; and Electrolux and Arthrex in the Anderson area. These projects, which stretch from the North Carolina state line above to the Georgia state line below, have utilized the full spectrum of Tindall’s precast concrete solutions, including stormwater and sewer structures, water vaults, culverts, trenches, conveyor tunnels, egress tunnels, and much more. Tindall is proud to be a local company that is actively involved in helping their state and home region continue to grow, and the Utility Division is committed to continuing to provide the greatest precast utility solutions to many new projects in the future.
