Since opening in 2000, Louisiana’s National World War II Museum has had nearly two million visitors and is now the top-rated tourist destination in New Orleans. Due to the large volume of visitors, the museum needed additional parking, as well as more office and retail space. Museum owners turned to the experts at Tindall to get the job done.

The new construction project called for a mixed-used development that included a five-level parking deck and ground-floor retail and office space. By working closely with the project’s architects early in the design process, Tindall was able to manufacture the necessary precast pieces quickly and efficiently and meet the project’s aggressive deadline. In using precast, Tindall was able to significantly reduce construction time, delivering a reduced time to occupancy. The museum also required unique spandrels that resembled buildings of the World War II era, and Tindall was able to deliver thanks to their versatile aesthetic capabilities.
Upon completion, the new museum facility totaled 135,296 SF with 464 parking spaces and retail spaces on the ground level. Erection began on September 21, 2015 and was completed on December 8th of that same year. The rapid construction of this high-profile project was a boon for the area as many projects in the region faced lengthy construction times and unexpected delays. Tindall proved that complex projects can be completed quickly and efficiently without sacrificing quality or savings.
